National Wellness Month: Where Do We Go From Here?

Hey Village!
As we wrap up National Wellness Month, It’s easy to let personal needs fall to the bottom of the list. To stay healthy and well, it is important to be intentional about making time, even in small ways. Wellness is a continuous, year-round practice, not just a month-long event. My goal is to encourage us all to carry the healthy habits that we’ve explored this month into our daily lives, and trust me when I say that this is daily work for me too! So we are all in this together! Let’s make taking care of ourselves an ongoing priority. A lifestyle if you will. So let’s talk about it.
Maintaining Our Health and Wellness
The secret to long-term change isn’t a giant leap, but a series of small steps in the right direction. Simple things like taking a 10 minute walk, staying hydrated, or setting boundaries, can help us meet the desired goal of maintaining our health and wellness.
Holistic Approach to Wellness
Wellness encompasses our physical, mental, emotional, and social well-being. As we move beyond this month, we can always reflect on how these different dimensions can be integrated into our daily routines to ensure a balanced and fulfilling life.
Recognize wellness as a necessity, not a luxury
Think of yourself as the hero of your own life story. To stay strong and ready for any challenge, you need to level up your self-care game! For too long, we’ve treated self-care as a luxury—a bubble bath here, a face mask there. But it’s time to reframe the game. In my blog post, “5 Types of Self Care,” I dive into how intentional, holistic self-care practices are the real secret to unlocking your peak health and wellness. This isn’t just pampering; it’s powering up!
Self-care is essential for preventing stress and burnout, especially for those in demanding roles or who care for others. It is not selfish to prioritize one’s own well-being.
Maintain engagement and momentum
Look ahead and plan
As Wellness Month concludes, let’s not lose the positive momentum we’ve gained. The quiet transition into fall is the perfect opportunity to reflect on our journey and solidify routines that will carry us through the busy holidays and beyond.
Celebrate progress
Don’t underestimate the power of celebrating your small victories. These moments of pride can recharge your motivation and serve as a quiet inspiration for others who are still learning that wellness is a marathon, not a sprint!
Create a supportive environment
Let’s explore creating workplace cultures that prioritizes employee well-being. By focusing on people, not just output, we can create a more supportive environment that motivates teams and boosts overall morale. It would be valuable to see leadership champion these efforts through their own visible commitment to work-life balance and health.
Connect people with resources like Employee Assistance Programs (EAPs), mental health support, or financial wellness programs so they can seek confidential support at any time.
Why dedicate so much to our wellness village? The benefits for you and everyone you touch are limitless. When we prioritize all parts of our health, we unearth the obstacles holding us back. Wellness can be a blast, not a bore. You deserve to feel amazing. We have the power to create that change. Go for it—you got this!
Here’s to brighter days!
