Kids Print! Intro to Silkscreen for ages 10-12
Join this series of fun Kids Print classes! In their small group sessions, students will learn the basics of screenprinting with Studio Director, Kristin Nason.
Open to students ages 10-12, this course will take place over six sessions on Thursdays from 4-5pm November 7th, 14th, 21st and December 5th, 12th and 19th.
Through a series of guided projects children will build both creative and analytical skills by thinking in layers, anticipating relationships between positive and negative forms and problem solving throughout the printing process.
Projects will evolve based on class interests and abilities, including original screenprinted posters, handmade books, greeting cards, printed felt crafts and custom designed t-shirts and tote bags!
About the instructor:
Kristin Nason holds a BFA from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst and an MFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Kristin has been working in the arts for nearly 30 years in a variety of disciplines. Prior to founding The Department of Things in 2019, Kristin held a variety of domestic and international positions including commercial photographer, production potter, Tokyo-based ESL teacher, ice cream truck driver and Assistant Director of International Admissions at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. She still feels excited every time she pulls a print and loves sharing the magic of screenprinting with students… printmaking is a super power!
