Weekend Madness

Oil Stick Monotype and Collage

Saturday, 28 Mar 2020 10:30 – 14:30
Location: YMCA of Kingston & Ulster County, Broadway 507, Kingston
Category: Weekend Madness
Monotype is a one-of-a-kind print known as the painter’s print and is considered the most painterly of all the printmaking processes. Using oil paint sticks to paint, draw, and make marks on a Plexiglass plate you will transfer images to paper, using a press or Japanese baren.

(Because of the beautiful range of colors, and the sensitivity for manipulation of the soft oil paint, the process lends itself to expressive work. Whether brushed, rolled, or directly drawn on the plate, the look of the transferred print is unique.)

After printing, you will explore collage using our monotype experiments.

Students are encouraged to bring papers, pressed plants and materials to use for collage with their monotype experiments.

Part of the Curated Shorts series.
