BHMK Kick-Off Event | Feb. 1st, 2020

The third annual kick-off event will be an amazing experience for all ages and cultures. This event brings residents together thru excitement, love and activities. Music, dance, performances and the preview of the month is a taste of what to expect. More info to be announced.

Bring Your Dude Valentine's Day Dance | Feb. 14th, 2020

This is a special evening for the entire family. We encourage this year's Valentine's Day to be spent with the children. Enjoy a night of dancing, food and fun. Let's show the community how the dudes hang out. More info to be announced.

Sojourner Truth Life Walk | Feb. 22nd, 2020

For the second year community members of Kingston and beyond will have a chance to witness the love, essence and experience of the walk of legendary activist and abolitionist Sojourner Truth. More info to be announced.

Black History Month Kingston Gala | Feb. 29th, 2020

Tickets will be available soon to pre-order for an evening of elegance, dancing and true celebration of the African-American heritage. "Harambee!".  More info to be announced.

About Black History Month Kingston

MyKingstonKids in partnership with Harambee are proud to present the third year of Black History Month Kingston. The past 2 years have been historic and have displayed the unified consciousness of the community of Kingston, New York. The African-American contributions were highlighted along with strategies of growth, awareness and celebration. With over 60 events city wide to date 2020 will continue the increased amount of community participation by at least 30 percent.

The festivities will start on Thursday, January 30th with a community engagement celebration at City Hall followed by a free community dinner on Friday, January 31st at the YMCA hosted by a variety of community organizations. On Saturday, February 1st, there will be the official annual Kick Off event including art exhibits, performances, spoken word, dance, vendors and more. The month will include participation from a variety of organizations, churches and businesses including lectures and workshops, along with our 2nd annual Sojourner Truth Life Walk, The Nubian Cafe, Kingston Library providing children’s activities, Valentine's Day Soul Night at Ruby Mae’s, Rondout Neighborhood Recreation Center, citywide art exhibits, UPAC performances, dances, business mixers and many more.
